Hanshin Tigers win their first Japan Series title in 38 years.

Hanshin Tigers defeated the Orix Buffaloes 7-1 in Game 7 of the Japan Series of the Nippon Professional Baseball 2023 postseason at Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan, on Friday to win the Japan Series.

Hanshin took control of the series with an 8-0 win in game one, but fell behind 0-8 in game two and then 5-4 in game three. However, he won the fourth and fifth games to turn the series around. They were down 1-5 to the Oryx in Game 6 the previous day (April 4), but smiled in a 7-1 victory in the fateful matchup.

Sheldon Neugebauer went 5-for-5 with two doubles (one home run), four RBIs and one run scored, while Shota Morishita went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. In relief, Masashi Ito pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two to earn the win.

With runners on second and third, Shota, Oyama, and Noji hit back-to-back singles to extend the lead to 6-0 with three straight hits.

From there, the game went into a lull. Both Hanshin and Oryx were unable to score, leading to the final offense of the game in the ninth inning.

In the top of the ninth, Hanshin drove in a run. Shota hit 메이저사이트 his second RBI of the game to put the game completely in Hanshin's favor. The Oryx responded in the bottom of the ninth with a run-scoring single by Yuma Tongu with the bases loaded, but Hanshin would not allow another run and the game ended 7-1.

With the victory, Hanshin won its first Central League title in 18 years and its first Japan Series title in 38 years. It was the second championship trophy of his career.
