Conor McGregor has assured Dustin Poirier that he has "awakened a beast" ahead of their trilogy war this summer.
Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will settle their score in the Octagon in the main event of UFC 264 Live Stream on July 10.
Poirier turned down the opportunity to compete for the UFC lightweight championship in favor of a lucrative rematch with ‘The Notorious' despite being the first competitor to TKO McGregor in mixed martial arts when they met in January.
McGregor confessed that he'd never seen the calf kicks that proved so crucial in Poirier's win, which eventually came from strikes in the second round of the UFC 257 main event.
Though Poirier questioned whether McGregor will have enough time to better adapt and learn how to defend the calf kick, the Irishman is now sure that he has his next adversary worked out.
The bad blood that was missing for the January rematch seems to have returned for the trilogy battle after McGregor responded angrily to Poirier's announcement that McGregor has not followed through with his $500,000 contribution to Poirier's charity. The money was then given to a different foundation in Poirier's native Louisiana by the Dubliner.
Poirier predicts a second straight stoppage win over McGregor as they meet for the third time in the Octagon on July 10.
Poirier recently told ESPN, "Fighting Conor the first time when I was a little bit more heated in the moment and worried so much and overread and overthought something, but then to come back and defeat the guy on the main stage."
“I feel like we owe it to each other. We owe it to each other to go in there one last try at our utmost and see what happens, who is the stronger warrior, who will implement their game plan and have their hand up. We owe it to each other. It is precisely what I think.
“It's part of my future, and by the conclusion of this process, that's going to be a big deal.”
