On January 29, Baejae High School Principal Lee Hyo-joon decided to retain (re-contract) baseball coach Kwon Oh-young. The parents of the baseball team expressed their gratitude for the decision, which was made in consideration of their children's future.
Initially, Principal Lee Hyo-joon decided not to renew Kwon's contract because he was not eligible for renewal. However, the school management committee, a deliberative (advisory) body, agreed that the baseball coach should be re-contracted, and considering that the timing of the baseball coach's replacement was not favorable, right before winter training, it was decided to re-contract him.
On January 29, Principal Lee, Director Kwon, and parent representatives (non-commissioned officers) met to discuss the decision. Yoon Dae-in, a member of the Parent Emergency Committee who participated in the meeting, said, "Through the meeting, we were able to confirm that this decision was made by Principal Lee Hyo-joon for the future of the children." "On behalf of the parents, we are deeply grateful, and this will be a better opportunity for the school, parents, and baseball team leaders to unite for the future of the children beyond the difficult process."
The Bae Jae-go baseball team is currently in winter training in Changwon, Gyeongnam. The team will participate in the Changwon Regional Winter League from February 1 to 7 and the Chungcheong Regional Winter League from February 16 to 27.
